Limerstone is a small hamlet in the south western part of the Isle of Wight, between Shorwell and Brighstone, and is a charming and pretty place to visit. Consisting of around 25 houses and a large farm, the Limerstone Farm, amenities in the hamlet are limited, but if wanting to experience a quaint area with real character then a visit or a stay here is perfect. Limerstone is also great for those adrenaline junkies as it is the perfect spot for paragliding and hang gliding, due to the perfect winds of the area.

There are lots of self-catering cottages to rent in and around Limerstone that are just wonderful for romantic breaks on the Isle of Wight. With private gardens, hot tubs and purpose-built BBQs, these cottages come equipped with everything you will need on your break on the island, and the tranquillity of Limerstone is a great way to sit back, relax and take in your stunning surroundings with your loved one. Falling asleep to the hushed sounds of the wildlife outside is something that can’t be done often, and waking up to stunning sunrises is the best way to start a day on the Isle of Wight.

The village has a rich history with a civil parish that dates back to 1644, and there is a lot to do here to keep visitors busy. Brighstone Bay is just a little way from the centre of the village and is a stunning stretch of shell beach along with chines and streams, making a very picturesque place to visit. Budding photographers will love wandering along the cliff-tops and gazing out at the coastline and magnificent ocean, as there is plenty of photo opportunities here!

History lovers will adore the Brighstone Museum which is owned by the National Trust, as it provides a fascinating history into village life in this lovely settlement in the 19th century through educational displays and exhibitions. There is also a shop for those wanting to purchase holiday gifts and souvenirs.

Another draw to the nearby Brighstone from Limerstone is the Mottistone Manor Garden which is a beautiful garden featuring an organic vegetable allotments and a little tea house – wonderful to stroll around in on a sunny afternoon on the Isle of Wight.
