Places to visit near Newchurch - ISLE OF WIGHT

Newchurch

Towards the eastern coast of the Isle of Wight is the lovely village and civil parish of Newchurch. It is home to the now demolished Knighton Gorges Manor, in an area which is said to be incredibly haunted. The only thing that is left of this grand manor house is the stone gateposts that once marked the entrance to the house, and visiting these imposing and eerie gates is quite exciting if you are interested in ghouls, ghosts and all things haunted!

Newchurch is home to a cosy pub, the Pointer Inn, as well as the All Saints Church which dates back to the 13th century. The village actually acquired its name from a church built in 1087 by Norman Monks, and today, the parish centres around its church and encompasses many of the surrounding villages.

Newchurch is simply lovely to visit for those who want to see a lesser-known area of the Isle of Wight, or if you want to experience a close-knit village community. There are also opportunities to rent a self-catering cottage in Newchurch or nearby, to really get a feel of this gorgeous district.
