The charming seaside town of Shanklin on the south east coast of the Isle of Wight has a long esplanade and a strip of beach backed by amusements and eateries.
The town has a railway station to the west and good roads to nearby towns such as Ventnor a little further south along the coast and Sandown to the north. Rent a holiday cottage in Shanklin for a self-catering stay in the country and the opportunity of enjoying the fabulous eastern coast of the Isle of Wight.
SHANKLIN BEACH
All the fun of the seaside is at Shanklin Beach. Enjoy the long strip of sandy beach and the various places to visit nearby. The Summer Arcade offers a range of entertainment such as Jungle Jim's Adventure Play for children, go karts and ten pin bowling. The town is very well maintained with attractive parks and plenty of clean public toilets.
Visit the old part of Shanklin for a walk admiring the wonderful old thatched cottages and their pretty gardens. Walk to the end of Shanklin Chine Gorge and back. Pop into the Christmas Shop to get some ideas and stock up on decorations for the following Christmas. Spend a little time browsing fine art at the Shanklin Gallery. Enjoy lunch or tea at Pencil Cottage or one of the eateries en-route.
