take the grandchildren to Blackgang ChineThe popular amusement park, Blackgang Chine, is only two miles away from Pyle. As Britain’s oldest theme park, it is steeped in history as well as being home to some of the best rides on the island! There is a Dinosaurland – fascinating for lovers of these incredible prehistoric creatures – which harks back to a time where these ‘giant lizards’ used to roam the Isle of Wight! Also in Blackgang Chine is a maze to get lost in, rollercoasters and other fun rides for the kids and big kids alike, and a visit to this attraction is one of the most popular things to do on the island. This theme park is great fun for older people as well as children because it provides an opportunity reminisce. Take the grandchildren and you will all enjoy your day out.

The large village of Niton is a little further from Pyle, but still only four miles away, and is home to St. Catherine’s Lighthouse, an interesting and historical structure that makes a great afternoon visit. Dating back to 1323 with the present structure being built in 1838, the lighthouse is open to guided tours, where visitors can learn about the history of this incredible piece of maritime history, which today guides shipping in the English Channel.
