Staplers - ISLE OF WIGHT

What's around Staplers?

Staplers is a settlement towards the central northern part of the Isle of Wight. It is a suburb of the capital of the island, Newport, and so is within easy access of all of the amenities of this town. Staplers is situated on the eastern side of the River Medina which flows towards the Solent and has a couple of amenities of its own, such as a cosy and friendly pub, ‘The Princess Royal’ which claims to be the nearest pub to the Isle of Wight Festival. If you are visiting the Isle of Wight and want to stay in the bustling capital of Newport, then you may want to consider renting accommodation in Staplers as you are less than a mile away from the centre, yet will be able to experience a more serene and village-like atmosphere.

Staplers has a couple areas of natural stunning beauty, such as the dense woodland of Staplers Copse. If you do choose to rent a self-catering cottage in this settlement, then preparing a picnic on a lovely sunny afternoon and taking a quiet amble beneath the trees, soaking up the beauty of this forest is a great way to spend some romantic time with your loved one.

One of the good things about renting a self-catering cottage on the Isle of Wight is that you can prepare picnics that your family will eat and enjoy and you can save money on buying lunch in an eaterie.

Things to do and see around Staplers

The Isle of Wight isn’t too big, and every corner can be visited on a trip to this charming English island. The first and obvious place to visit, whether staying nearby or not, is the county town of Newport. There are plenty of things to do in Newport, as the town is packed full of delicious cafes and restaurants, high street shops, boutiques and family pubs. If you are interested in art, then a visit to the Newport Museum and Art Gallery and the Quay Arts should be on your to-do list, as the museum houses an extensive collection of interesting ceramics and paintings.

Also in Newport is the Newport Roman Villa that was discovered in 1926 and dates back to an incredible 280AD. With a museum and a brilliantly well preserved Roman Bath, lovers of history and architecture will find a visit here absolutely fascinating.

Carisbrooke Castle is very close to Staplers, at only about two and a half miles from the settlement. This 12th century castle is one of the most exciting things to visit on the Isle of Wight, and there is a lot to do here, from wandering through the grounds and stunning garden to dressing as a soldier in armour, learning how a cannon works and finding out about the history of this fortress.

The beautiful coast should always be visited on a trip to the Isle of Wight, and resorts such as Ventnor, Ryde and Sandown are all within a half hour’s drive from Staplers.
